This might seem really naive but plums for wine who'd have thought it!
I always associate wine with grapes. Im a white wine drink myself but have started to experiment with red. I think plum wine is next on the list. Cant wait to taste some Mmmm

I made wine out of plums about a week ago, i would say that its not as nice as grape wine but it is nice still, i would recomend trying elderberry that is also nice.

I have had a go at this... it was just what I was looking for - a very straightforward and simple method to produce some wine. This is my first year of making, and I've had a go with blackberries as well. My plums came from a friend's tree (actually I think they are, strictly speaking, greengages) so this is inexpensive, and now am dying to find out how it tastes! I'll try and pop back to add a comment about the results later in the year!

Don't quote my recipe cos I just did it on a wing and a prayer! Last Sept made two demi jons worth of victoria plums and just finally filled 8.75 bottles. In syphoning got a delicious mouthful of cloudy tan almost port like wine. Could do with measuring it's alcohol. Would appreciate any advice on how long I should leave it now and anything I could do naturally to make it clearer?

I've never had a plum wine but it sure sounds delicious. Would you say it has more of a sweet or sour taste in the wine?
