Framboos Review

Posted in Homebrew recipes, Real Ale Recipes on July 18th, 2006

Framboos is a Belgium beer made with Raspberries ?!?!

I’ve not tried any beer before that has been made with fruit so this is a bit of an experiment. I bought it at my local Home Brew shop, the guy suggested that you use a real candy sugar. Candy sugar is looks just like a bag of sweats of candy only clear, bit like a boiled sweat without all the flavours and colours. It’s a little strange when you are stirring the wort and it rattles like a bag of gravel.

It brewed out within about 5 days, mainly because the instructions say maintain the temp at 25C. I tried a little sip when it came out of the barrel, it was quite a refreshing beer. We shall see when it has primed and ready to drink.

I spent quite a bit of time travelling around New Zealand, one of there lagers they have there (Steinlager) uses Green bullet hops. This beer acts as a reminder to the fun I had down there.
